Question by kailee: travel ideas where i could drive to from canberra?
i live in Canberra and need some travel ideas for somewhere to go on the week-end, places other then Batemans Bay where i have been hundreds of times!

Best answer:

Answer by zafir
There are so many places around Canberra that are worth visiting at the weekend. Just have a look at a map! You say you’ve been to Batemans Bay, but what other places have you visited on the South Coast? Have you been to Eden, Bega, Merimbula, Ulladulla, Nowra, Jervis Bay?

If you want to get away from the coast go to Jambaroo and Kangaroo Valley, visit Fitzroy Falls. At the same time you can also visit Berrima, Mittagong, Moss Vale, Bowral. It’s such a beautiful area.

Go up to Sydney for the weekend. Or just pick a town near Canberra and spend a day or two exploring. You could try Bungendore, Goulburn, Junee, Cowra, Tumut, Cooma, Grenfell, Harden – the list just goes on and on.

Best answer:

Answer by Jade
There is no one pass train ticket from Istanbul to Italy. You can consider Interrail Single Country Pass Cards.
Here is the website of Turkish State Railways to get more info about it;

Question by Evelyn B: Is it safe for a 20 year old American woman to travel by train (by herself) in Italy?
I’m going to Italy and really want to go to Verona or Milan, (but the closest I’m getting is Venice, so I want to take a train there for a day trip…..)

Is it safe for me to travel by myself not only by train but around Italy as well?

I know Italy isn’t totally crime ridden, I’d just prefer to be safe than sorry.

Best answer:

Answer by Elleth
I’ve heard that is NOT safe. Better to travel with a friend, always be aware of your surroundings, and keep your cash, credit cards, passport on your person rather than in a purse or fanny pack. I’ve heard of numerous cases of purse snatching and theft of hotel rooms. Fortunatley I did all my traveling in the 70′s and things were not quite as dangerous as they are now around the world. Kidnapping of Americans is also a concern now in Europe and elsewhere. Too bad it has to be like that, even in our own USA.

Question by Greta Leigh: Travel Ideas!?
My little cousin is graduating from 8th grade in June. She has had a TOUGH childhood so far with 2 sick parents and a LOT of responsibility. She means the world to me.

Since she is graduating with highest honors and got a full scolarship to a really good private high school, I want to reward her with a nice trip sometime in June. I was going to bring her to Bermuda but come to find out, we need passports and it’s just a no go for that.

Where is someplace nice that we can go? We are in the Boston area and she is open to a nice road trip or flying. My budget is about $ 1,000 and I’m looking at about 3-4 days.

Do you need a passport to go to Canada now too?

Thanks for your help!!

Best answer:

Answer by Amy D
Everybody loves Disney World. I’ll bet for $ 1000 you can fly down, stay in Disney and get a “park hopper” pass. We went several years ago when my kids were 10 and 14 and we all had a great time.

Best answer:

Answer by Kermit
There is a train station in Johor Bahru. To save you the hassle of traveling to JB to take the train, you can board it in Singapore. The website for the train service (Kreta-api Tanah Melayu Berhad) is www.ktmb.com.my

You will be able to see the schedule there and make online booking.

Best answer:

Answer by madeinczech
You can go as a solo traveller if you wish. Always have your eyes open for anything. I’ve been a solo traveller to Barbados, Trinidad, even U.S.A., and I’m from Canada. If they don’t want to go, then that’s their loss, your gain, because you get to experience a new country.

Question by Theresa: Im looking for cheap travel ideas from paris to london, any ideas?
After christmas I want to go to Paris and London and I am looking for the cheapest way to travel from one to the other? Also if you have any Ideas for New Years in either location?

Best answer:

Answer by Hoppelemine
Eurostar (train) is the quickest and easiest. You may find a budget airline flight for less money but it’s more hassle. Eurostar takes you from the center of one city to the center of the other.

New Year in either city is expensive. For London the West End and Trafalgar Square are the popular places to go. In Paris the Champs-Elysse and Arc du Triomphe (spelling is probably wrong) are very good areas. Be careful in Paris they like to throw fireworks into crowds of people which can get scary.

Have fun!

Question by Rebecca W: What is the easiest way to travel by train from Munich to Interlaken?
I will be traveling with a group of teenagers from Munich to Interlaken in August, 2008, and would like assistance finding the easiest route by train. I would also like to be able to purchase the tickets BEFORE getting to Europe – is this possible?

Best answer:

Answer by Mr. T’s Pretty Cuzzin
Ha! You’re in luck–I’ve just been researching cheapest trains from Germany to Grindelwald, Switzerland (which connects via Interlaken) myself! Interlaken is a beautiful area. Nearest commercial flights–airlines–serve Bern.

Train is easiest and cheapest. There are flights from Munich to Bern, but those are usually quite expensive; from Berne, train to Interlaken is another 50 minutes or so.

Go to http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml — I see options in August for €39 one way–which is amazing considering the normal prices of trains just in Switzerland, but this ticket also includes train all the way from Munich, connecting to Zurich, and onward to Interlaken. 6 hrs, 23 mins.

You can purchase train tickets online from Bahn.de ahead of time–and at this price, I recommend you book soon, because it won’t last.

=== ok, I need to update
… Because I just checked flights for you for MUC-BRN in August, and there must be a good sale on because roundtrips are coming up only $ 131 USD total with taxes, staying about a week, out and back midweek days. These are nonstop flights with Lufthansa. This might actually be cheaper than train, and might save you about 2 hours each way considering airport checkin times, security, etc.

I want to visit the historical places in England, Italy and France but I don’t know which is better, using train or by flight. Regarding train, I don’t know which one to choose because they are too many of them and the fares are a bit complicated. And I have 3 weeks to spend. This is my first time to travel to Europe. I also have issue with accomodation. Any suggestion on good hotel or a house/apartment to stay?
